Theatre Rental The Paul Bunyan Playhouse (PBP) has a seating capacity of 315 and is available for rent during PBP’s off-season (September through May). In addition to 57 consecutive years of outstanding summer performances at the Playhouse, the stage has also become a familiar midsize venue for concerts, performing arts and presentations. If your group or organization is searching for a place to hold a meeting, workshop, recital, program, concert or other production, the PBP could be just the place. Download the Paul Bunyan Playhouse Rental Agreement (pdf) PAUL BUNYAN PLAYHOUSE RENTAL POLICY Renting the PBPH augments its operating income and supports its mission of bringing live performance art to the greater Bemidji community. The income will be used for facility improvements, supporting quality performance selections, and maintaining affordable tickets prices. Priority for renting the theater will be for performances consistent with promoting Playhouse goals. The following policies and procedures have been accepted by the PBPH Board of Directors for renting the Chief Theater. Rental Categories Rental to for-profit organizations • $500 per performance • $100 per day for rehearsal space • PBPH board assistance is not provided for advertising, ticket production and sales, etc. • Staff will provide technical and other services on a fee basis as defined within the contract • The renting organization will have use of one display window which will be put up by Playhouse staff • Advertising on marquee will be put up by Playhouse staff • Advertising will be done on the PBPH website calendar Rental to non-profit groups • $350 per performance; local non-profits and contracts for three performances or more are $300 per performance • 1 night rehearsal space per performance; additional nights $50 • PBPH board assistance is not provided for advertising, ticket production and sales, etc. • Staff will provide technical and other services on a fee basis as defined within the contract • The renting organization will have use of one display window which will be put up by Playhouse staff • Advertising on marquee will be put up by Playhouse staff • Advertising will be done on the PBPH website calendar • Set up and set construction will be by arrangement and specified in the contract Collaborative efforts • Local non-profit groups may be considered for collaborative contracts • Collaborative efforts are negotiated by a designated member of the Board. Contracts will be reviewed and approved by the PBPH Board. Reservations • Priority is based upon the date of deposit Playhouse Policies • Food and beverages are prohibited except in lobby • Except for collaborative efforts the renting group may not state or imply that their event is associated with the Paul Bunyan Playhouse. • Location of the event is to be listed as: Chief Theater, Home of the Paul Bunyan Playhouse. • PBPH will maintain use of the display case closest to the north entrance. • The PBPH may not be rented for purposes of showing films • The box office will be rented at the discretion of PBPH. • The Playhouse will be clean and ready prior to the renter taking use, and is expected to be left in similar condition by the renter group. • Cancellation: Is expected one week prior to scheduled event and will result in full deposit refund minus direct expenses incurred by PBPH. Cancellation within 7 calendar days of the event will lose the full deposit and charged for direct expenses incurred. It will be the responsibility of the renting group to refund for tickets sold and to announce the cancellation.
